Mashups and API

Broadening my horizones once again learning aoubt mashup and rollyo/ I liked the mashup, the favorite I could find is the Codex Map. Very interetting way tof ind books about a topic from different countries.

As far as Rollyo...I get sucked in just reading about people and their lives by reading their blogs. I am truly amazed at the amount of personal fact which people post about thie lives. This to me is truly amazing. AND I am fast falling asleep as I have done all my homework from my living room at night.

This has been a truly worthwhile and valuable class. I've had to apply what I've learned and have a new found comfort level (minimal but more then before!) with Web 2.0.

Thanks to the creators of this course, the teachers and to MLA for making it available to all of us to take, and also for subsidizing the cost. This is a great benefit of membership! This is the second online course I've taken and love this type of class and format and learn so much more then sitting in a classroom.

YouTube and Podcasts

Both could have many applications in providing instruction to users. I also like the idea of lecture series becoming podcasts and made available to all. One of the classes I taught was video taped and made available on the university's website for librarians to access to review the 'how to's' and also for people who could not attend the session.

Uploaded images.....amazing!!!!

I managed to upload images to my facebook account and to my blog. I also now have a flickr account. How and when I will use any of these is a big question...I don't use or collect photos in my personal life. I have a few but am not an image nut. I could see where if I developed a product blog it would be very useful to add images/screenshots etc to these communication channels.

This course is forcing me to do things and to my amazement I figure out how to make it happen!

Office Tools

I think these could be very useful. We certainly need to share and collaborate on documents at work, and this method is easier in that multiple editions of the same work are not flying around which becomes very confusing.

Bookmarking Sites...

I can see that this could be an interesting method to get group consensus on 'good/relevant' sites for a defined user group...for those willing to participate, evaluate and post. Many of the comments I saw for some sites were just cut and pasted from the site. In some ways I feel like I am sorting through an old fashioned vertical file with a hodgepodge of materials being added by people...many things 'nice' but not highly relevant to what I'm looking for....

Social Network Sites

Working for a vendor, I wonder about providing a blog for a product line for the company. It could be a location where people could post likes and dislikes and the blog owner could also provide information and facts on how the product works or what is under development. It could be very interesting, similar to companies that have had list serves where users could email and discuss among themselves. For whatever reason I am not receiving the required email confirmation for facebook.... this is the second time I have tried to complete this assignment.
